THE TEST - LEEDS SHORT FILM
|
The film is an effort to support the local community and provide a platform for new talent, giving cast and crew the chance to move from short films to full features. It is a professionally supervised project led by industry professionals. The black comedy film "The Test" focuses on two main characters, a teacher and her student and how she helps him overcome his fear of exams. In addition Talkinglens are looking to cast some A-List actors for the main adult roles.
We are also looking to cast the following : Twenty 16-24 year old students, mixed sex, supporting artists for an exam scene in "The Test" Kenny - Age 16-21 , lead male Two teachers, supporting artists, one actor around 25-30 and the other being 35-40 (one of each gender). Various cast 5-7 quirky characters who visit the occupants of the house where the kidnap has taken place.. We can forward the script upon request. As this is a community project are able to offer your company/the students a credit in the film and all publicity, a DVD copy of the film, potential paid roles in the future and an invite to related promotional events such as Leeds Film Festival. Descartes Error

Director: John Butcher. Descartes Error - a gritty British crime thriller. Enticed into corruption by his senior partner, a naive policeman finds himself involved in the murder of a drug dealer and responsible for saving the only witness, the dealer’s daughter. The film opens with a violent bar scene, which introduces the corrupt detectives - Jack Carver and Tom Descartes. Then, tipped off about a drug drop off on the Yorkshire Moors, they head out there to take the drugs - a sports bag packed with cocaine. It should be an easy take, but the dealer, Solomon Teague, puts up a struggle, and Jack shoots him dead, almost seeming to relish the violence. The pair find Solomon's daughter, Florence, in the back of his car, and are faced with a dilemma - what should they do with her? So begins a drive across the moors and conflict between the policemen over Florence's fate

Feature length film in York called Scott and Sid. It's a really great script and the film showcases Yorkshire at it's best. Offering actors the chance to appear in the film as extras! OPEN CASTING FOR 'OUR DAY'Open Auditions held THIS Monday 27th April at TalkingLens in Leeds!
Auditions for Short Film Entitled 'Our Day' on Monday 27th April. A romantic film short about the enduring long term friendships of two couples that blossomed into romance from an early age. The story juxtaposes two relationships and deals with the complexities of long distance love and the struggles that life can bring. We need four principal characters to portray the two couples, and three supporting roles as a jewellery shop assistant, hotel clerk and hotel porter. As it is a self funded project they unable to offer expenses or pay for this project however we are able to issue a DVD copy of the film and an invitation to premiers such as Leeds Film Festival. This is the 3rd of our series of shorts to discover new talent who could then potentially be considered for our forthcoming spy thriller "Kickback" . Furthermore this would be an opportunity for your clients to work with award winning director Raza Mallal who will also be directing Kickback. 'The Velvet Picture House'

Introduction - The Velvet Picture House follows 'Charleigh', a recent graduate trapped in the drudgery of a late night cleaning job, who is wished away into the surreal dream lie world of the Fringe Nightclub; a place that exists on the boarders of dream and reality, a place that presents itself to those who want it most.
This is a very ambitious and large scale student production which will be shooting in some incredibly lavish locations (confirmed) Including the underground vaults of a huge country estate/mansion, a very decadent modern private members nightclub in Leeds and other locations including complicated studio green-screen set ups for experimental FVX sequences. We are looking for performers to join our growing collection of supporting artist to bring this fantastical and decadent fantasy world to life. Each of the scenes involves quite unique atmospheres, styles and performances and a full breakdown is available on request with all important details provided. An overall theme will be decadent, smart and sexy. With masquerades masks a recurring theme. We are expecting people to get involved mostly for the experience of a very unique project and a chance to meet interesting people and have a fun time. We won't be expecting anyone to be available for the entirety of the shoot but simply as and when they are free. Finally we will have a preference for those who are based in or closest to Leeds. FAQs: - If expenses will be covered: Travel expenses will be covered (but must be negotiated ahead of schedule) catering will be provided, masks and props will be provided and some costume will be provided but what costume will require confirmation. - Purpose of the project: Final Year graduation project, ambitions for success at film festivals internationally. - All work is done on a voluntary basis this is a not-for-profit creative project, all those involved are there to create and collaborate for the sake of making something unique.
- Catering will be provided for all performers on all days, it will be tasty and healthy.
- Film Credits will be given to all performers. Additional credits to an organisation can also be negotiated.
- All masks and props will be provided, additionally some costume will be provided to but again due to keeping this overview simple we have kept the exact details of this open to negotiation.
- For people who would like any additional material of them to be shared for there show reel or personal reference, this can be organised (for shots that might not make the final cut etc.)

In this scene our protagonist has the final stand off with the story’s antagonist in a black infinite room. A purgatory. (Set created inside the studio)
Clothing requirements – ‘Decadent, Decadent, Decadent….’ Club goers wear classy evening-wear, Shirt/trousers, stylish dresses. Waiters/Waitresses wear black trousers, shoes, blouse, shirts and waistcoats.
(Everyone to wear masquerade style masks, which will be provided)
● 12 supporting artists required, standing in a line and removing their party masks watching the confrontation.
Wednesday 18th March – (Oracle Bar, private area) (9am-5pm)
‘Oracle Bar’ (upstairs in the private members section) - Oracle will be transformed into The Fringe Night Club. In these scenes our protagonist will meet the proprietor of the club and be given a selection of strange drinks that will deeply affect our protagonist.
Clothing requirements – ‘Decadent, Decadent, Decadent….’ Club goers wear classy eveningwear, Shirt/trousers, stylish dresses. Waiters/Waitresses wear black trousers, shoes, blouse, shirts and waistcoats.
(Everyone to wear masquerade style masks, which will be provided)
● 10 supporting artists will be seated in groups chatting closely and enjoying themselves.
● 15 supporting artists will be up dancing to electronic synth style music.
● 5 supporting artists are required to be waiters/waitresses of The Fringe, collecting glasses, being behind the bar area.

With our Protagonist wandering into the back area of The Fringe and is walking through an entanglement of corridors where some customers are participating in sexual activities and generally having a very risqué and decadent party!
Clothing requirements – ‘Decadent, elegant and very sexy…!’ Classy eveningwear, shirt/trousers, stylish dresses, corsets, stockings
(Everyone to wear masquerade style masks, which will be provided)
● 10 supporting artists required, acting in a very erotic way. No nudity but extras will have to simulate having sex against walls, fellatio, kissing, flirting and groping. (LGBT friendly)
Sunday 22nd - Temple Newsam (9am-5pm)
● Same as above
Monday 23rd March – 2 locations (t.b.c 10am-2pm approx.)
1. Interior: ‘Get Baked’ (This is the same building/church as the nightclub Halo used to be in) the scene takes place around the toilets, which are lit up with amazing neon lighting and generally look really cool.
Our protagonist ‘Charleigh’ enters a toilet area to get away from the crowd inside the Fringe nightclub.
Clothing requirements - ‘Decadent, Decadent, Decadent….’ Smart evening-wear, classy, going to an exclusive nightclub.
(Everyone to wear masquerade style masks, which will be provided)
● 2 supporting artists exiting a toilet together at Get Baked after having sex in the cubicle. (We don’t see the sex)
2. Exterior: Brigate Street Area of Leeds (Call Lane, High street, Around the Viaduct theater etc) (7pm-10pm)
In this scene our protagonist ‘Charleigh’ is heading home through a throng of people on a night out. She is alone and ignored.
Clothing requirements – ‘stylish, sexy and sassy…’ Current fashion, what you think you’d look good in or would actually wear to go for a night out.
● 6 supporting artists required to ‘play’ being drunk and having a good time. Coming home from a night out along Leeds Brigate and surrounding streets. A couple are required to be kissing intimately against a storefront wall. Our character passes them all unnoticed.

Looking for artiste interested in taking part in a short film at the end of January 2015 A variety of cast roles are available. Cast Parts President - Our President has previous military experience well built strong and intimidating man. Must be able to deliver a strong performance in one key scene at the beginning of the film. We are looking for someone ideally with an Eastern European look or similar. Auditions will be taking place in Leeds Week commencing 12th January 2015 Elenas Father - We see him an drunken state a large and aggressive man. One good Scene with our main cast. Must be able to deliver a very strong performance. Ideally looking for someone with an eastern European look but not essential. Auditions will be taking place in Leeds, week commencing 12th January 2015 Supporting Artiste - Looking for a variety of artiste 1 Day Filming at the end of January 2015.
